Summary
MinglesPrep is a test-prep platform run by an independent developer. We collect the information needed to run accounts, deliver practice and tutoring features, process subscription payments, and measure how the site is used. We do not sell user data. This page describes what we collect, why, and how to exercise your rights over your information.
Who we are
"MinglesPrep," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of minglesprep.com and the MinglesPrep Android app. For privacy questions, contact thdakxo@hotmail.com.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes — we never store or see your plaintext password. You may optionally provide a display name, profile photo, bio, or social links from your profile page; everything in the profile section is optional and you can edit or remove it any time.
Payment information
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full credit card number — Stripe handles that directly. We store the Stripe customer ID, the subscription tier and status, and billing event metadata returned by Stripe (such as the last four digits of your card and the renewal date). Stripe's own privacy policy governs the data they collect from the checkout flow.
Study activity and content
To make practice features work, we store the questions you attempt, the answers you submit, your scores, and your AI tutor conversation history. If you post in discussions, send chat messages, comment on threads, join groups, or follow other users, that content is stored on our servers and made visible to other users according to the context (public discussions are public; chat messages are visible to the conversation's participants).
Device and usage information
Like most websites, we receive standard information your browser sends with every request: IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, and the times you visit them. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure how the site is used and to attribute ad campaigns. These tools may set cookies, see the pages you visit on MinglesPrep, and associate that activity with an identifier (which may include a hashed version of your email if you're signed in). They do not receive your password or your answers to practice questions.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account.
- To deliver practice questions, exams, AI tutor responses, and community features.
- To process subscription payments and manage billing.
- To send transactional email (password resets, billing receipts, account notifications).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- To measure product usage and the performance of ad campaigns.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
When we share information
We don't sell user data. We share data only with the providers we need to run the service:
- Stripe — processes payments and stores your billing details directly.
- Neon — hosts our database (PostgreSQL on AWS infrastructure).
- Render — runs the API backend.
- Vercel — serves the website.
- Cloudflare R2 — stores user-uploaded files (profile photos, reviewer documents).
- Anthropic— powers the AI Tutor. When you chat with the tutor, the question stem and your messages are sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic does not use the content to train its models when accessed through the API.
- YouTube— videos and Shorts on our Media pages are embedded from YouTube. Google may set cookies and collect usage data through these embeds; see Google's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics, Meta Pixel — receive usage events as described above.
We may also disclose information to comply with a legal obligation, to protect the rights, safety, or property of MinglesPrep or its users, or in connection with a business transfer (acquisition, merger, or asset sale) — in which case the data would be transferred under the same privacy commitments.
Your rights and choices
- Access — you can see your profile, study history, posts, and subscriptions from your account pages.
- Edit — you can change your username, display name, photo, bio, and other profile fields from Account → Profile.
- Delete your account — you can delete your account from Account → Settings. Deletion triggers a 30-day soft-delete grace period during which you can cancel; after that, your account and personal data are removed, except where retention is required (e.g., billing records we must keep for tax purposes).
- Export — for a copy of the data we hold about you, email thdakxo@hotmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
- Opt out of analytics — you can install a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel (e.g., the official Google Analytics Opt-out add-on or any major tracker-blocker).
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional statutory rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA). You can exercise any of them by contacting us at the email above; we'll honor valid requests.
Data security
We use HTTPS for all traffic between your device and our servers. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Database access is restricted to our backend. Stripe handles all payment card data. No system is perfectly secure, however — please use a strong unique password and contact us immediately if you suspect your account has been accessed without your permission.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active and for the 30-day soft-delete grace period after you delete your account. Billing records (invoices, subscription history) may be retained longer where required by law (typically up to 7 years for tax purposes). Backup snapshots may persist for up to 30 days after deletion.
Children's privacy
MinglesPrep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add features or partners that change how data is handled. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll notify signed-in users by email or via an in-app banner.
